Verify Surveillance
Apr 18, 2025
Verify Surveillance helps authorized agencies inspect, verify, clear, flag, and report product manifests in real time to strengthen product safety and supply chain accountability.

Verify Surveillance is a mobile app designed for agencies and enforcement bodies such as NAFDAC, police, and other authorized officers to inspect product movement, verify dispatch and manifest records, and flag suspicious activity.
The app helps officials check manifests, verify product-related IDs, share intel, report suspicious manifests, and clear or flag goods during movement.
The Problem
Agencies responsible for monitoring product movement often need fast access to reliable product and manifest information. Without a digital inspection tool, officers may struggle to confirm whether goods are legitimate, properly documented, or linked to verified distributors.
This can lead to:
Slow roadside or checkpoint inspections
Difficulty confirming manifest authenticity
Poor visibility into high-risk product movement
Missed suspicious dispatches
Weak coordination between agencies
Limited reporting of flagged manifests
The Goal
To design a surveillance tool that allows authorized agencies to quickly inspect, verify, flag, and report product movement.
The app needed to help officers:
Check product manifests
Clear or flag manifests
Verify dispatch ID
Verify manifest ID
Verify Consumer Protection Number / CPN
Share product and manifest intel
Report suspicious manifests
Target Users
NAFDAC officers
Police officers
Regulatory agencies
Inspection teams
Border or checkpoint officers
Authorized surveillance personnel
Key Features

Check and Clear Manifest
Officers can scan or search a manifest to review the movement details of products being transported.
After inspection, they can either:
Clear the manifest if everything is valid
Flag the manifest if something looks suspicious
This gives agencies a faster way to act during product inspection.
Verify Manifest ID
Officers can verify a Manifest ID to confirm whether a movement record exists and whether the details match what is being transported.
This helps detect fake, altered, or unregistered manifests.
Verify Dispatch ID
The app allows officers to verify a Dispatch ID connected to product movement.
This helps confirm whether a dispatch is valid, who created it, and whether it is connected to an approved manifest.
Verify Consumer Protection Number / CPN
Officers can verify a CPN, which identifies distributors or product handlers within the Verify system.
This helps agencies confirm whether the distributor or handler is recognized and linked to valid product movement records.

Share Intel
The app allows agencies to share intelligence about products, manifests, distributors, routes, or suspicious activities.
Intel may include:
Suspicious product movement
High-risk manifests
Flagged distributors
Repeated complaint patterns
Unsafe product alerts
Route-based warnings
This supports better coordination between agencies and officers.

Report Manifest
Officers can report a manifest when they identify suspicious or non-compliant movement.
Reports may include:
Invalid manifest
Product mismatch
Suspicious distributor
Fake product suspicion
Expired or unsafe goods
Missing documentation
Repeated flagged activity

Design Approach
The Surveillance app needed to feel official, fast, and reliable. Officers may use it in high-pressure environments like checkpoints, warehouses, borders, and field inspections, so the design had to prioritize speed and clarity.
The design focused on:
Fast search and scan actions
Clear verification results
Strong status indicators
Simple clear/flag decisions
Easy reporting
Real-time intelligence visibility
Minimal steps during inspection
Core User Flow
Open app → Search or scan manifest/ID → Review details → Clear or flag manifest → Add report if needed → Share intel with other officers
Estimated Impact
Verify Surveillance could help:
Improve inspection speed for agencies
Reduce fake or undocumented product movement
Help officers verify manifests in real time
Improve coordination between agencies
Create stronger accountability for distributors
Support faster action against suspicious goods
Strengthen consumer protection across the supply chain
What I Learned
Designing Verify Surveillance showed me that enforcement tools must balance speed, authority, and accuracy. Officers need enough information to make the right decision quickly, but the interface must not slow them down during inspections.
I also learned that surveillance is not only about catching bad actors. It is also about creating a reliable system where legitimate product movement can be cleared faster.
Final Outcome
Verify Surveillance was designed as a field-ready inspection tool for agencies. It gives officers a faster way to verify product movement, clear legitimate manifests, flag suspicious activity, and share intelligence across the product protection ecosystem.
